🧠 What Are Noun Clauses?
A noun clause is a group of words that works like a noun in a sentence.
You can use it as the subject, object, or complement of a sentence.
Example:
- ✅ I know that she is coming. (noun clause = object)
- ✅ What you said was funny. (noun clause = subject)
🧩 Types of Noun Clauses
Noun clauses often begin with these words:
1. That
Used after verbs like think, know, say, believe.
- ✅ I believe that English is useful.
- ✅ He said that he was tired.
2. Wh- Words (what, who, where, when, why, how)
- ✅ She asked where I live.
- ✅ I don’t know why he left.
3. Wh + ever (whatever, whoever, whichever, etc.)
These words mean “anything” or “any person” in noun clauses.
- ✅ I’ll eat whatever you make.
- ✅ Whoever finishes first will win.
4. If and Whether
Used for yes/no questions.
- ✅ I wonder if she’s home.
- ✅ Let me know whether you agree.
🎯 Why Are Noun Clauses Useful?
Noun clauses help you:
- Say what you think, believe, or know
- Ask indirect questions
- Talk about choices, reasons, and information

🏗️ How to Form Them Correctly
- Use correct word order:
❌ I don’t know where is she.
✅ I don’t know where she is. - Don’t use a question mark unless it’s a real question.
❌ I asked if she’s okay?
✅ I asked if she’s okay. - Use “that” after certain verbs — sometimes optional:
✅ I think (that) it’s true. - No commas before noun clauses.
❌ I believe, that she is right.
✅ I believe that she is right.
