Languages

Part 1 (4-5 minutes)
Directions: Answer naturally and directly. Aim for 2-3 sentences per answer.

  • Topic: Work or Studies
    • Do you work or are you a student?
    • What is the most interesting part of your work/studies?
    • What is one thing you would like to change about your job or course?
  • Topic: Your Language
    • How many languages can you speak?
    • Is your native language difficult to learn?
    • Would you like to learn another language in the future?
  • Topic: Language Learning
    • Why are you learning English?
    • What is the most difficult part of learning a new language?
    • Do you think it’s easier to learn a language as a child or as an adult?

Part 2 (3-4 minutes)
Directions: You have 1 minute to prepare and should speak for 1-2 minutes.
👉 Describe a person you know who speaks a foreign language well.
You should say:

  • Who this person is
  • What language they speak
  • How they learned it
    and explain why you think they are good at it.

Part 3 (4-5 minutes)
Directions: Discuss the broader themes. Give extended answers (4-6 sentences).

  • Why is it important to learn a foreign language?
  • What are the advantages of being bilingual?
  • How can learning a language help you understand a different culture?
  • Do you think everyone should learn an international language like English?
  • How might technology change the way we learn languages in the future?
