Part 1 (4-5 minutes)

    • Have your buying habits changed as you’ve gotten older?
  • Topic: Lifestyle
    • What does “simple living” mean to you?
    • Do you feel pressure to own certain things to be successful?
    • What are the benefits of owning fewer possessions?

Part 2 (3-4 minutes)
Directions: You have 1 minute to prepare and should speak for 1-2 minutes.
👉 Describe a possession that you once valued but no longer need.
You should say:

  • What the item was
  • Why you valued it initially
  • Why you no longer need it
    and explain what this experience taught you about material possessions.

Part 3 (4-5 minutes)
Directions: Discuss the broader themes. Give extended answers (4-6 sentences).

  • Why has minimalism become popular among young people recently?
  • How does consumer culture affect people’s happiness and well-being?
  • What is the relationship between minimalism and environmental sustainability?
  • How can people balance enjoying possessions with not being overly materialistic?
  • Do you think digital minimalism (reducing digital consumption) is as important as physical minimalism?
