Part 1 (4-5 minutes)

  • Topic: News
    • How do you usually get the news?
    • What type of news are you most interested in?
    • Do you often read international news?
  • Topic: Media
    • Do you prefer to read newspapers or watch the news on TV?
    • How has technology changed the way we consume news?
    • Do you think news reports are always reliable?

Part 2 (3-4 minutes)
Directions: You have 1 minute to prepare and should speak for 1-2 minutes.
👉 Describe a piece of good news you received recently.
You should say:

  • What the news was
  • How you received the news
  • Who told you the news
    and explain why it was good news for you.

Part 3 (4-5 minutes)
Directions: Discuss the broader themes. Give extended answers (4-6 sentences).

  • Why do people want to know the latest news?
  • What is the difference between news from social media and news from traditional media?
  • How can biased news reporting affect the public?
  • Should journalists be completely free to report any news they want?
  • Do you think bad news is reported more often than good news? Why?
