🌟 How to Use COULD in English
Could is a modal auxiliary verb.
👉 This means it cannot be used by itself. It must always be followed by another verb (the base verb).

Use could to ask someone to do something politely.

Use could to ask if it is okay to do something.

Use could to say something is possible.

Use couldn’t have to say you are sure something was impossible in the past.
Examples
- Nobody told him about the meeting. He couldn’t have known.

Use could have to say someone had the chance to do something but didn’t.
